Founded in 2001 by David and Mary Sylvia, the company was born from a cherished early-1900s family recipe, passed down through generations and rooted in Portuguese-Azorean heritage.

Our Story
In the winter of 2000, David and Mary were starting their family, renovating an 1811 farm, and looking for something special to give as Christmas gifts.
They reproduced David’s family recipe and shared jars of coffee syrup with friends and relatives. The syrup was so popular that they were encouraged to sell it — inspiring the founding of Morning Glory in early 2001. Their first retail opportunity came through Albert Lees of Lees Market, where the syrup is still sold 25 years later.

David and Mary Sylvia continue to guide the company with the same principles it was founded on: keeping the recipe honest, the process intentional, and the experience welcoming to every customer. Their children have also been involved throughout the years, helping to carry forward the family tradition.
