Ingredients
- Coffee Crust
- ¼ cup ancho chili powder
- ¼ finely ground espresso
- ¼ cup Morning Glory Old Fashioned Coffee Syrup
- 2 tbsp spanish paprika
- 2 tbsp dark brown sugar
- 1 tbsp dry mustard
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp ground coriander
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 2 tsp chili de arbol powder
- 2 bone in or boneless rib eye steak, 2 in thick, approx 1 ½ lbs each
- Olive oil
- Salt and coarsely ground black pepper
Directions:
- Combine all spices and Morning Glory Coffee Syrup in a bowl and mix until a paste forms.
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- Preheat cast iron pan over high heat.
- Brush each side of the steak with olive oil an d then season each side liberally with salt and pepper.
- Pat 2 tbsp of the coffee crust on 1 side of each steak.
- Cook the steak crust side down until golden brown about 3‑4 min.
- Flip steak and cook other side for 2 more min and then transfer to a baking sheet and cook in oven to medium ‑rare or preference about 8‑10 min.
- Remove and let rest for 5 min before slicing.
